Projects and bidding

A Fieldwire alternative that also runs the business

Fieldwire puts plans, tasks, and punch lists on the jobsite. Published 2026 prices run about $39 to $89 per user per month on annual billing, after a free basic tier. Foremen like it because the sheet and the task are on the phone.

The sheet and the task are not the company. Quantities, purchase orders, shop routing, and the draw still happen somewhere else. TrueScope is the lite field tool — plan view, daily logs, photos, messaging, QR check-in — attached to takeoff, inventory, and progress billing so the punch item can also be a cost.

What Fieldwire is built to do

Fieldwire is task and plan management for the field. It is deliberately not an accounting system or a fabrication ERP. Companies pair it with other software and pay per user for the field slice alone.

  • Punch, RFIs, and plan versioning aimed at larger jobsite teams
  • A per-user field price that stacks on top of office software
  • No bill of materials, warehouse, or ledger

The lighter version for a small contractor

Small contractors need the current drawing, a note, a photo, and a record of who was there. TrueScope projects cover that and stop short of a full GC document-control program. Takeoff on the same plans means the field is looking at the set you already priced.

A crew that frames, fabrics, and comes back for service does not want a field app, a shop app, and a service app. Fieldwire covers one of those. TrueScope covers the mix and lets you hide the modules you do not use this season.

Field use is the point. TrueScope is mobile, offline, and fine on a Mac in the trailer. Plan view is there for the site, not only for the estimator’s desktop.

Fieldwire’s paid tiers are commonly listed around $39 to $89 per user per month, and you still buy the office system. TrueScope full users are $20 a month for field and office together. Prices change. Check the vendor before you buy.

Questions small contractors ask

Is TrueScope a Fieldwire alternative?

Yes for plan viewing, daily logs, photos, and crew communication, with takeoff and billing included. It is not a punch-list clone for a hundred-person jobsite.

Can the field work offline?

Yes. The device stores photos, bids, and ledger changes and syncs when the connection returns.

Does it replace my accounting file too?

For contractor bookkeeping, progress billing, retainage, and vendor bills, yes. It is single-entry books aimed at owners who are not accountants, not a Big Four general ledger.

$20 a full user. Every module.

Field contributors are $5. Mac, phone, and offline included.
